Cell Therapy
MSC (Mesenchymal Stem Cell) or stem cells is a Live Cell Therapy using cells from umbilical cord, placenta, fat cells, skin, milk teeth, bone marrow, or even menstruation blood. MSC cells have special ability to target and cure inflamed tissues and balance immune systems.
The Live Cell Therapy was discovered since 1911 by Dr. Paul Niehans who was a pioneer of using embryo of sheep injected into a person’s muscles for body restoration. Then until now, many doctors have been interested in a live cell therapy until it becomes an alternative medicine, which has been accepted from many European countries. Lab-produced MSC cells have been studied for autoimmune disease.
For Examples,
The use of MSC cells are for preventing GvHD (a condition that new stem cells resist patient’s body), reducing a graft rejection in patients with bone marrow transplants, healing brain disease which is called Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid, Crohn’s Disease, and substituting an Anti-interleukin 2 receptors in patients with kidney transplant. The MSC is used for reducing chronic inflammation, which leads to many chronic diseases in aging people such as atherosclerosis, myocardial ischemia, ischemic stroke, dementia, and cancers. The MSC cells are injected via blood vessels of patients with myocardial ischemia or ischemic stroke, or injected into knee joints in patients with knee osteoarthritis. The study from the laboratory reveals that the MSC have ability to stop cancer cells growth, to prevent lung cells death from cigarette toxins in lab animals, and to prevent beta cells death in pancreas which produce insulin hormones to control sugar levels in the blood. Moreover, the MSC can be cultured into liver cells, bone cells, cartilage cells for healing bone diseases such as osteogenesis imperfect and osteoarthritis. For disease treatment, 1-2 million MSC per 1kg of patient’s weight are injected via blood vessels or muscles of the patients. However, for body restoration, less amount of MSC are used.
